A behaviour consultation is necessary to address abnormal, troubling or maladaptive behaviours. These can include problems interacting appropriately with humans or other dogs, fearful behaviour, aggression, reactivity, barking, separation anxiety, fear of fireworks or other loud noises and more.

The purpose of the consultation is to allow us to identify a strategy to alter behaviour and prevent further problems. I will work with you to identify the source of the issue, demonstrate and explain the techniques used, and provide support throughout the training process. This means that you will be confident to continue working with the dog even when I’m not there. Undertaking a behaviour consult will require you to complete a pre-consult questionnaire and to have a referral form completed by your vet. This allows me to understand whether problems may be caused by underlying health issues.

Consultations cost £200, for which you get preparation of a behaviour modification plan before we meet, a consultation in your home which usually lasts between 2-3 hours, a written follow-up report which can be shared with your vet, a one hour follow-up in person and telephone/email support for six weeks. A comprehensive approach such as this is needed to ensure that behaviour modification is successful. If you require more support, this can be discussed at the initial assessment and incorporated into the plan.
